Among soil improvement methods (e.g. for direct foundations, road and railway embankments, etc.) aimed at enhancing bearing capacity, stability and/or limitation of settlement we execute the following type of concrete columns:
• displacement columns formed in the soil with no excavation and spoil according to PN-EN 12699 Wykonawstwo specjalnych robót geotechnicznych. Pale przemieszczeniowe (Execution of Special Geotechnical Works. Displacement Piles), or
• non-displacement columns formed with Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) with spoil removal according to PN-EN 1536 Wykonawstwo specjalnych robót geotechnicznych. Pale wiercone (Execution of Special Geotechnical Works. Drilled Piles).
Displacement columns with a diameter of 410mm or non-displacement columns with diameters of 470mm or 500mm are usually installed as unreinforced or with technological reinforcement which protects the column head during the execution of piling or/and earth works.
For designing these ground improvement solutions we use specialist software based on Priebe’s method.
